Lynley has previously worked at North Tec for 10 years managing the student/staff occupational health clinic. This involved working with courses to address health and safety issues and reduce risk. Lynley worked in the role of disability co-ordinator for 2 years, working to address barriers to students studying with disability. At North Tec Lynley gained her Diploma in Tertiary Teaching.
Lynley then worked in heavy industry for 7 years at Golden Bay Cement, Portland in Whangarei managing a busy onsite occupational health clinic. This role covered all aspects of occupational health and safety including rehabilitation, drug testing, pre-employment, smoking cessation, wellness programme, education on all workplace health and safety issues and annual monitoring of employees inclusive of hearing and lung function. She was an advisor to management on occupational health issues.
